Doing some research into mud motors for a duck boat set-up I plan getting for next season (16-18' Jon). Anybody on here run a bud motor and if so what kind and size of boat are you running it on? How does it work for you? Any issues that would make you do something different if having to do it again? Where did you get yours from? I found a Beavertail dealer in Maine. Does you motor have electric an pull start for a back-up? Surface drive or Long tail?
Thanks Chris

Nobody running these motors on here? What are you all using to get to those spots full of lilly pads and junk where the ducks are, trolling motors? Places where I hunt say in the Oromocto river you can drive with an outboard most of the way but that last 100 yds to 1km to get to the sweet spot you either can't run the outboard because of depth or you would just get all tangled up and maybe ruin a motor. Trolling motor work for short ditances but is not very efficient for and length of travel. I was thinking a MM would be a better choice and open up access to some really hard places to get to.

There is a chap JohnnyD who had run one for some years but I believe he sold it- the mud motor is a bit of a rare bird around these parts
