Started work this week and it is about a 25 minute drive from Stonewall to 17 Wing Winnipeg. EVERY MORNING there are about 10 Turkeys in the exact same spot with tails fanned out strutting their stuff!!
Harvest time and it is very scenic to see the Golden crops being cut, swathed, bailed, combined etc. Looks like mainly grains and corn in our area.
Heading to Teulon tomorrow to put the Coleman boat in North, East and West Shoal Lake to scout for a “water spot” to hunt. Fields will be a “Day Time” hunt as I like when the marshes come to life in the morning!! Seeing many mallards and geese but it will be about 2 – 3 weeks before they really slam the area.
Brandon was with my Dad looking for a grouse spot in Anola, and they came across a bear hot spot!!
Seen 2 huge Canada’s dead on the shoulder of the road with neck bands!! Hit by cars!! In the fall the fields have them pushed right up on the shoulders of the road and causing accidents as motorist try to avoid them. Many like to see the geese in the fall but many regards them as a nuisance with all the crap they leave behind etc!! Hopefully farmers feel the same way and will accommodate our requests to rid their fields of them!!
Will let all know about the Goose Shoot in the fall and provide the lnk!!

So you have the neck bands?
Great to hear your settling in and scouting locations.

There was too much traffic to stop and get the neck bands. I will post a cool picture later of a black bear!! Stopped too look through bulrushes to see out on Netley marsh and a bear comes charging out. He was running down the road as the bullrushes are very thick on both sides of the road, and we were in he little echo so I caught up to him and he ran alongside us for quite awhile. Brandon tried to video but his phone froze so he only got a picture. Brandon was amazed as the bear was only a couple feet from us, he said he could smell him!!
