Put a down payment on one this Monday! The pup won't be ready until this spring/summer, just gives me the winter to brush up on my training, it's been a while (11 years). Especially a pointer, never trained one before1 Should be fun!

Congrats! I hunted a few times with a guy who had a griffon, which I think are a closely related breed. The owners quickly gave up on training it properly for hunting, but even without any guidance, it was pretty cool to see him lock up on point the first time we took him out in the pheasant cover. Nice timing to get a pup as well - nicer weather for the frequent trips outside for house training and good time of year to spend a lot of time out and about with him/her. Also, you've got lots of time to start puppy proofing. -Croc

Thanks! Yes they are pretty close from what I've read, I've hunted over a couple pointers before & must agree it is pretty cool to see them work & get a full body hard on when they find a bird! Lol! I thought it would be the best time also, not interested in trying to train a dog in the winter. Lots of puppy proofing to do here!!! I have 2 little girls with a billion little toys & dolls throughout the house! I'm getting a male by the way.
