Went out to a local event last nite which was catered and man oh man there were some good eats. Started with Hot and Cold o'derves like bacon wrapped scallops, pepperoni and mustard sauce and shrimp etc. etc I had a great portion of salmon with egg sauce, potatoes, glazed gree bean with almonds while others had the beef It was 50.00 a couple which included ceasar salad, bluberry ice cream dessert, rolls butter and coffee ,tea. Meal was served and there was sufficent servers on hand to ensure when your food arrived it was hot. I was joined by Skyrat and family who just happened to win a prize worthy of the man cave

Looks like a DU event. To bad any money raised will do nothing for hunters! Great organization wrong priorities Ok ive bit my tounge long enough i have an onion on this broad coment about DU.. Just where do you think ducks come from?? Check out the amount of Du ponds and prodjects there are in our province then the rest of them..there is NO ONE else spending that kind of money on ponds for ducks to breed and provide food for our table and sport for our dogs. and before anyone jumps down me throat yes most of them ponds you cant hunt there duck huggers ponds ,but in reality i dont give a rats ass where they are the more the better as far as im concerned as almost all of you have learned they the ducks never stay in them safety ponds they go looking for mates and food and thats when we have our chance at em` ask every fella that has taken a fine mallard in the truro area them bunny huggin ponds is where they came from.....no where else do you see as many of them horrid mallards..... IVe been a DU supporter for many years as well a Delta member to each has there claim to fame as to doing this or that for us the hunter or the ducks... each has its short falls and its golden moments..i for one am thank full that they do what they do for all concerned especialy for the ducks.for without them there realy is no future for waterfowling now is there ? So to bad mouth one organization or another for this or that is realy counter producktive to all of us ,the ducks the hunters and the dawgs. Sherm...

Shermie,
Well said...I have supported both over the years and for the very reasons you mentioned..hell I do not know what % goes to the Marsh's and what does not...but I can tell you I have shot birds 1/4 Mile from oak hammock and in the delta so for me the investment was well worth it..
DU seems to be a little top heavy and Delta more down to earth but that like comparing Ford to Chevy or Benelli to Remington.. they just aint the same..

I have been staying away from this thread on purpose but here goes: I have served on both committees at one time or another . I spent 10 years on the committee of the other mentioned group , i have been on the committee of Delta for the last seven [ chair for last three years ] . Yes , there is a place for both groups as one does things the other doesn't. I have some strong issues which i will not get into here as to why I do not personnally support this other group but I acknowledge some of the good work they do . I could get on my soap box but i won't because that wouldn't accomplish anything . All I will say is that over the combined 17 years , I have saw / heard / read / witnessed / was told enough , that I will not part with any of my hard earned cash to them . Shermie , old buddy looks like we disagree on this topic . Maybe because I am on a couple other Boards that i have a different perspective , but I am still a hunter first . There , I did that without any bad words or name calling . I know this debate keeps popping up , and really guys it's a personal decision . Bottom line is we all have to get along to be strong against the gun haters and antis .
cheers Eric

Excellent civility to aLl!! LOL BTW for the record I went to the dinner , took some pics, ate some great food paid 60 bucks for a floor mat- Had a great time with the company I was keeping and proudly wore my Delta Waterfowl L/S shirt. what they gonna do fire the unofficial official photographer. Everytime I go to a dinner I take stock of all the various features to see what works.

Ya, I quess my comment was broad. But in the end they do shit for hunters. They will not stand up and fight for any gun rights or hunting rights in this country but yet they want us to come and support them night after night. They want the hunters support on a Sat night but then turn around on Sun morning and beg for help from the antis to save some frog or something. As for all the ponds and duck habitat they produce- Have ya looked at how many millions these guys get in goverment funding. Surely your not gulable enough to beleive that thes million doller holes arent built of a fundraising banquet? Not mention the $$$$$$$$ it takes to maintain these spots after they are built so they will keep producing ducks. They are talking out both sides of there mouth and if ya don't wanna support me as a hunter 100% of the time then ya aint getting support from me! To each his own. I know I can use that 65-70 bucks it costs me to get into there banquet to support a organization that will be there when I need them or for more dekes:)
