Ed, I have had this breed starting back in the mid eighties , I had only Problems with one male and he was 18 months old when I bought him. I have had males and females, sense and they have all been great in door family Dogs the females in particularly are always the most Affectionate, The males are more loyal to a single owner, and do not have quit in there vocabulary when on a bird, but all were fine except the one I mentioned above, I may have judged him harshly but I did not keep him, every one has there own favorites they are a strong, fast water Dog and I have had great success with grouse and woodcock as well , I never had the opportunity to hunt wild pheasant with them but when I had four wirehairs I did do a lot of guiding on Pheasant Preserves here, and they seem to handle them well , and my boys grew up with them and Now Alex has gotten 1 for his own so I guess you know his opinion..
