well heres my 2 cents worth
first off have more dinners in each region of the province... reach more people ....
3 or 4 dinners south shore,halifax,northshore,capebreton??
we can add dinners in South Shore and North shore there are already dinners in cape breton and Halifax. All it takes is someone to express enough interest to join the committee or start their own chapternow mindyou there is those that say there is no way to have that many because of all the work involved...
It isnt a crazy amount of work you just need an organized core group to set it up and organize the venue--Delta will ship everything for an event. well if we draw more members by getting into grass root invovlement in towns arcoss the province we will draw more people to us... more people in the countryside are more likely to come to the dinners then bunny hugggers abound in the city...not to mention the traveling ...i understand folks who are comited to delta travel great distances to go to dinners but in todays world at gas at the prices there is no one is traveling anywhere .....
we routinely have folks travelling around the maritimes to support each other and each Chapter charges members from other chapters for the plate only as they do the membership at their own dinnersif you can have a smaller dinner and meet and greet in smaller towns and townhalls you may end up reaping bigger bennifits down the line..
take 6 guns you had... and have 6 small town dinners....
one event equals an entitlement to one event package so why not 6 dinners with 6 guns at each then everyone has the chance to raise more money and more winners equals more happy membersanother idea is kids only draws as we {adults} all love the guns and other stuff,,but we are all about the kids so we should steer ourselves to the next generations,,so if we gear up the kids there the future...if we get the kids there that means the parents are there ,,
We have been trying to develop more kid stuff it is an area for great improvementdrop the ticket prices to 50 bucks for the dinner as you wont have to pay as much for stuff like you have in the city...have the option either to join or not and not which means half price for a ticket...now dont freak ,,,
We looked at this and We would have to take away the membership and it is the second most important reason for the Dinner to increase the membership in DELTA to get more interest in what we do---the cost in HRM is the lowest cost we could get--- other dinners are less costly in areas where the average plate price is more reasonablereason im getting at is people that dont hunt will come to the dinner and dont want a membership but a good meal and a chance to win stuff if they participate...
The equipment and prizes we raffle are picked for hunters and their families interests and More people will come if folks sell tickets a bit betterive seen alot of seniors at events and they are only there for the entertainment and the dinner..
\this means we get them for a few hours and show them we are doing great things for the NEXT GENERATION and the ducks to...which means thru word of mouth which if any of you who have there own buisnes knows is worth more then paid advertizing.....they talk about the great work we do and the lovely dinner and you should go next year will be repeated....
agreedall the suscess we have had in the past year should be disscussed as well as where we are heading and where we are in need of help,,,, then bam ,,,,,the auction starts...
I had a speech with a description in my shirt pocket with all the running around it slipped my mind completly--also the saying of the gracemore non hunting related items wouldnt hurt for bidding on silent wise ,,,,
we need more donations to this area maybe underwrighting as wellmore kids stuff for hunting...for auction....i loved the pellet guns great idea,,tobad mickey all ready has hers...id of bid on it...
We have been steadily improving this each year and trying to branch out a bit to predator management as well as other hunting fishing folks tooi hope i helped answer the areas of concern shermie
Thanks for helping us make next years events better
