The dinner was by all accounts a successful event. The wingspan raffle drug on a bit at the end, a different game format may be in order for future events We had some very happy folks in Metro last night with the Guns, the fire pit, poker set winners all expressing a heartfelt thank you to all of the Nova Delta Chapter members for organizing and hosting a great event once again Thanks to all who were there we couldnt do it without you Gary

Yep, it seems that folks enjoyed it - I know I did! Here's an email that I got from someone this morning that I thought I should pass on:
"Dave, I have to tell you that I had a good time Saturday night. I have to say that a good time was had by all. I was talking to some other friends on the weekend and you will likely have a bunch of new recruits another year."
That's what we like to hear! lol! Good job everyone. -Croc

Newguy kinda started the ball rolling a bit with his comment about the wingspan dragging on a bit, but I'd like to encourage others to provide constructive criticism as well. There's always room for improvement and the best we can do is to hear what you folks thought and what you might have overheard aroudn your table about what could have been better. No need to mention any names of stuff you overheard (heck, you can even comment as a "guest" if you want anonymity!), but I know that the committee will value what you have to say. As secretary, I will record what is provided here or to my email or pm, and bring it to the committee at the next meeting.
For my part, I'd like to see a brief talk about what Delta does nationally, and what we've done locally, perhaps during the dinner (a bit like what Rob Olson did 3-4 years ago). Just seems like it would be a good idea to remind folks what they're paying for just in time to loosen up their wallets at the auction. Of course, actions speak louder than words, so once we've discussed as a committee, I volunteer to prepare and deliver this presentation next year ;D. With that in mind, please continue to take good photographs of Delta activities (shoots, youth stuff, nest tubes etc...) for this purpose and for the show booth etc...

Only critisisim I have is for the meal.
The food itself was great.
But the table should have salt & pepper, butter for bread, enough utensils for each place setting and most of all water and glasses.

I will take the blame for that one Crock. I had a brief speech prepared and I found it in my shirt pocket Sunday Morning, that was truly a big omission on my part. A change in Menu may not be a bad idea, not everyone was really fond of the choice presented. I had the salad and a drink (totally my own fault cause I was running around) it was really nice That being said there was a couple folks that would like to see a menu change, just an idea for next year. Anthony is right about the table set up. Dinner tickets should be ready for sale in Dec or Jan then maybe we can increase attendance it is a shame we have such a great venue and we couldn't break 100.

I think there would be more people if you stayed away from March break and you need to advertize more not only at the Sports show

yeah the tables were lacking a little on some fronts,I agree that salt and pepper shakers ,and water glasses butter and such should all be included with the meal.
And a talk about what we do would add alot to the dinner, and Crockett thats great of you to step up to the plate for next year woth the pictures a power point type thing would be awsome, even a slide show of past pictures would be good too.a little visual stimuli.
I really enjoy the meal we had but something new would be good to.
But with all that said it was a really good night got to talk to lots of great people and again I really like the food

It wasn't march break for the local folks and we were normally slated for the 3rd weekend in March We got a change in date this year due to a function at the church for this Saturday. We really do have a good thing going with our dinner as a whole, this is just a way for more ideas to be brought forwards to make each dinner better than the last. No matter what we do we will never get everyone happy, we had great dinners in the past and each dinner someone wasn't pleased with something. If we can smooth out the little issues each year we can work towards getting it to the point where the comments are few and far between.
OVERALL THE DINNER WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL BUT WE CAN ALWAYS DO A BIT BETTER AND IT WILL BE FANTASTIC. tHIS TOPIC WASN'T MENT TO BE ALL NEGATIVE JUST POINTS TO TRY AND IMPROVE FOR NEXT TIME

Newguy is right of course - that we will never make everybody happy all the time, but it's great to get feedback anyways to continue to make more people happy so that we get good attendance and everyone has a good time. The delicate balance with these things is to strike a good compromise between providing a nice meal in a nice venue, while keeping costs down (because it's all about fundraising after all!). While we could provide chicken/beef/veggie/fish options with a free bottle of wine for 55$, we wouldn't be building too many nest tubes that year and the youth would surely get short-changed when it comes around to the youth day/hunt - lol! By the same token, if people stop showing up, we're in just as much trouble, so that's where striking the balance comes in. Just for comparison though, consider that the Nova Scotia Salmon Association dinner is 150$ a head this year That said, I'm sure we can manage some glasses of water and salt-and-pepper without too much trouble ;D Also, remember that the positive feedback is just as valuable as the constructive criticisms, because it lets us know what to make sure to keep doing in future years as the banquet evolves. Cheers, -Crockett
