carved this up out of an end off a pine log going to give it to my brother for his baby thats on the way saw one like it on a carving site had the piece of pine and gave it a try

Thank God. I thought that was the one and only WOOD DUCK you shot and had mounted!!

no the woody is safe and will be sorted and presented as soon as it is taken care of The carving was started as a project of (I wonder if this will make a decoy) it then became very apparent that there is a reason carvers use the wood "with"the grain. A lesson I learned very quickly.
I also learned that a flap sanding disk in a angle grinder will take alot of wood off in a hurry and should not be done in a basement without ventilation.
Also fingers and nuckles do not slow the grinder at all. However the extension cord will stop it almost instantly when you are flipping and flopping the grinder around to get just the right angle

Great looking and no batteries... its a perfect childs toy! You did use lead free paint right??

Ive choked on a little sawdust myself here are a couple thing I have done 1rst is a slab of maple second from a walking stick

some nice carving there ED lots of time to get those done I can apreciate the effort! The walking stick has a bit of an Dark occult theme going (with your advanced age you needed to scare away the grim reaper EH...LOL)
