Well a long time ago I picked up some scrap cedar at a log cabin maker. I had this grand idea to carve my own decoys Well I only got as far as good intentions till this morning I had run out of ways to avoid doing the yard work till I found this After a morning of a razor knife and Dremel this is how it looks so far now I cant figure out how or what style of duck and bill to finnish it off as it will be a bit small for a Black or Mallard I think Any suggestions guys And yes it will most likely be a gunner it aint fancy but it kept me from doing yard work Cheers Gary

I'd say from looking at the pics, the body/head resembles a Barrows Goldeneye. Looks Good!

A couple pics of progress to date Home sick for a couple of days but couldn't just sit on the couch staring at the decoy I found a soft center in the block that I didnt know was there till I got down to it. It is almost ready for some painting after a bit more detail gets done. I was thinking about stopping there on this one because of the soft spot but kinda wanted to get it looking better Can Anyone out there recommend any books with carving feathers and details! Gary

Hi Gary, check out Chapters, they use to have a pretty big selection.
