I kept seeing Blue/Franklin grouse on the logging roads here so sucked it up and paid 50$ for a non resident upland licence with only ten days left in the season. Then I never saw another one for nine straight days! 
On the last day I came around the corner and there she was in all her glory, pecking dirt on the side of the road. I slid to a stop, ran back and gave her a taste of my Ithaca 20ga.
Dug the breast out of the freezer yesterday morning and after work there was a few hours of 'missus magic' in the kitchen and we had Grouse Stew with Cranberry Compote for dinner with all the fixins. (Yes, yes, you can have the recipe Croc

Dont mind my attire- I was hoping the missus would take the 'hugh hefner' hint....
