I kept seeing Blue/Franklin grouse on the logging roads here so sucked it up and paid 50$ for a non resident upland licence with only ten days left in the season. Then I never saw another one for nine straight days! On the last day I came around the corner and there she was in all her glory, pecking dirt on the side of the road. I slid to a stop, ran back and gave her a taste of my Ithaca 20ga. Dug the breast out of the freezer yesterday morning and after work there was a few hours of 'missus magic' in the kitchen and we had Grouse Stew with Cranberry Compote for dinner with all the fixins. (Yes, yes, you can have the recipe Croc ) Dont mind my attire- I was hoping the missus would take the 'hugh hefner' hint....
