Guys,
I have searched and searched the internet trying to find out locations where geese (or ducks) are banded on the east coast...specifically around Atlantic Canada. Does anyone know if such a website exists? Or if you have shot an east coast banded bird, where was it banded?
Just curious...

I have several from ducks over the years. Most were either banded in Amherst or in Martinique NS.

Dept. of Environment was headed to Bellisle last week for banding. I told them I represented a very prominant duck hunting website and that not only could I drive/fly the boat for them while they worked I would be able to take pics as well. I think my interest in how fast the boat would go and how big the engine was may have thrown them off a bit Never knew they hold the ducks with lights at night, scoop em up with dipnets, band and release. Learn somethin new everyday..keeps things interesting.

That baby will put the wind in your hair!! I met some local guys hired to trap and band ducks at Belleisle a couple years ago, but never heard of spotlighting them. Well except for that big flash of light out the end of my XCS, that is.... ;D My mallard in the fall was banded in Charlotte county, NB.

Jaydog...did they give a more specific location in Charlotte county?
Thats where I lived before relocating to NS, just wondering if I knew the place.
I knew of a few places that were banding locations in NB, they tended to very secret about them as pepole would often go in and shoot them to get the bands which really defeted the purpose to some extent.

They did say where, and considering I used to live in St. Andrews you'd think I'd remember it. With the house packed I cant even find the certificate either.

Chances are they are talking about the Moosehorn wildlife preserve in Calais Maine. I have shot around 12 bands in 2 years, and they all came from there. Tantramar Marsh, in the Sackville area is also a large banding area.
