I have been waterfowling for 28 years and have collected 7 banded birds. They were all taken since 2005.
1 Canada Goose banded in New York State - shot in Ontario 1 Canada Goose banded in Ontario -captured in Maryland and shot in Nova Scotia 1 immature Black Duck shot near Truro and banded three weeks earlier in Trois Pistol, Quebec! A tropical storm came from Ontario during that time so I can only assume it got caught in it. 1 Black Duck banded in Kent County, NB - shot in Nova Scotia 1 immature American Widgeon banded in Sunbury, NB - shot a month later near Truro 1 Mallard ($100.00 reward band) banded in Sackville, NB - shot in Nova Scotia 1 Greater Snow Goose (no collar) banded on Bylot Island, Nunavut - shot at Lisle Verte, Quebec
The Feds announced that they are going paperless and will not be sending out paper copies anymore. Too bad but a sign of the times.

just a minute I will get my lanyard....
33 from large ducks... 2 from teal.. and only 1 goose..but we gave a bunch away...
Now most won't believe me..but I have been at this for..40 years and have hunted in every province except for BC....Ed and I are planning a couple hunts this fall..I'll let him count and verify..
Remember...it's the memories that are the real trophies...

I picked this one up opening day this year. Green Wing Teal banded at Amherst Point Marsh as an adult in 2009. I didn't even notice it until my boys came out to the garage to inspect the harvest.

After waiting for a month for the info by reporting my band by phone, I followed Lurch's lead and filled it in online...and presto, instant band info. Male Canada Goose, banded June 23, 2010 in Windsor, N.S. was too young to fly when banded.

Our mill has been down due for a couple of weeks now and I was told to use up my remainimg vacation. So, I deer hunted a couple of days and went duck'in the other two days. I picked up a single black duck that was banded in 2003 as an immature and another banded black duck this morning. It was banded the same day as the GWT I shot on opening day, except it was banded in Albert County, NB. Needless to say, I made sure I bought a lotto ticket for tonight's 6-49 draw. Got my fingers crossed.
