This is my new powder horn for black powder. It was made by an avid BP hunter/ friend in South Africa The horn is from a very large Blesbuck Ram. Very difficult to hunt, skittish animals that you find on the plains. Very good eye sight, and they run for no reason at all. Both the plugs are from a piece of wild olive that came out the Kalahari Desert. A very hard and dense wood, even though it has a lighter colour. Can be polished to a very fine sheen.

I can see you now - The spitting Image of Daniel Boone or Davey Crockett, With Coonskin Cap, Smokepole, deer skin garments,Bowie knife and last but not least that mighty fine looking powder horn. Now in no way should you think I am at you. Quite the opposite. I can very much appreciate a tradional look and means to harvest game. But what do I know, you may not even have a coonskin cap

Nice video! I had the volume turned up on my computer and there was not much sound all the way through so I didn't realize until the shot went off! Let's just say the dog's nap was rudely interrupted and I'm glad that I was between sips of my coffee! She just got back from searching the house for whatever it was that got shot! Cool stuff to see. The coonskin cap comments remind me of when I was a kid - this is where "Crockett" comes from. My uncle bought me a coonskin cap and a leather-bound book of stories about the Alamo and Davey Crockett. Well I put that coonskin cap on and tied a red bandana around my neck and REFUSED to take either of them off, ever. According to my mother, they'd wrestle the coonskin off to wash my hair once in a while, but the bandana didn't come off until it rotted. Geez I must have been a disgusting little bugger to have around! The coonskin cap is still hanging in my old room at my parents' house in Quebec - smells like an old goat and is all moth-eaten! -Crockett
