I personally dont care if they build one on every corner because once the WOW factor rubs off one will settle down and hopefully remember the facts-
Facts like although Cabelas was available on line, people still bought and contiue to buy through outlets that serve them best- How many people can say when I called ,they remembered my name or checked into something and actually did.

it will prob be the same as the other chain store in ontario ,you cant order from them it all comes from the states so what ever you want at the canadian store in canadian prices expect to pay more for shipping and broker fees etc.i was blown away when i went to order from there in ONT. oh sorry sir we dont ship anything from this store ,i say what you got to be kidding.no im sorry sir please go lonline or call such and such....so i do not ecpect anything different for the montreal store of cabelas, those stores are for the residents who can drive to the store to get want they want.

Not to say that I would buy everything or anything from a place like this cause like you guys say..no personnal service and no desire to dicker with pricing..I always look for the best deal cause it's my money!! And it bugs me too that here you have a "Canadian Dealer" that will not ship from their Canadian location (Bass Pro)..so you are left to pay duties and brokerage on individual orders which equals a lot more and where they pay it on a per load basis..it's the same whether they bring one or 20.. I hope Cabela's leads the way and does ship from Montreal..the way it should be..

i've had nothing bhut first class service from cabelas...tops all the way!
and yes, you do pay in american dollars....there is no duty as all there stuff comes shipped from niagra falls..been like that for a while now.
I mean it may be a hidden cost somehwere...but it come from ontario no customs or brokerage fees. just arrives at your door.
who got charged the brokerage/customs fees from cabelas.....was it oversize or something...curious...ordered tons of stuff ,,always from Niagra falls....

When you place an order for stuff with them, you will not get a separate bill at the door..you just pay it at the time of invoice.. if you use their online ordering service you will see what they are charging everytime and for what..shipping, duty, tax and brokerage fees eventhough it's shipped from Ontario..here's an example from something I just ordered Merchandise = $39.99 Brokerage Fee = $3.50 Postage Fee = $9.75 Duty and Tax Fee = $8.56 ORDER TOTAL = $61.80
And yes they have great service too...

yep...pay for it one way or the other.....course you pay for it from anywhere...it's paid at some point by someone.
I just thought some ment they got a seperate customs bill...like you would with other places.
having said that....i too will support local stuff every chance I can get...

You should never get a separate bill from Cabela's or Bass Pro because they charge you upfront for that stuff but if you order from one of the many companies that don't charge for it upfront you could get a very big surprise upon arrival.. I find the big surprises usually come from the courier companies instead of Canada Post..CP uses a fee of $5.00 for processing where the couriers can charge whatever they feel like.. I almost always us postal companies to ship stuff over the border as I know what to expect, where I don't with the courier's

Just like right now I could buy 12 Kolpins Full Bodies $180 per dozen + $69.15 shipping via USPS.. So $249.15 USD landed..but I have to get them over the border.. so duty is all I need to factor in and see how much it will cost..
Converting 286.70 Canadian Dollars to U.S. Dollars will yield 250.00 U.S. Dollars. (Derived rate = 0.8720)
