Well my season FINALLY ended. I was in the blind most of the day waiting for a buck that my trail cam had a few picks of. It was getting late and I heard a deer comming my way. By now I had been in the stand all day and I was getting excited. Could it be my buck....unfortunately it wasn't him, but a nice lone doe stepped out to my apples and gave me a great shot. Well, it was the bottom of the ninth with two outs and I had a doe tag. So I drew and picked my spot. Sitting all day in the cold had me good and stiff to the point where it was tough drawing my bow. I let her fly and hit back from my mark. The doe bounded off!! I was definately unsure of my shot and it was comming on dark. I climbed down and checked the arrow. Lots of dark blood and fur all over it, a complete pass through! So I started tracking with very little blood at first. After loosing the trail a few times darkness set in and so I called a buddy for advice. Take'em did me a HUGE favor and dropped everything to come out and give me a hand. Once he got there we found that the trail got better and better with more blood as we went on. After a short while we found her. My bad shot was thankfully at a great angle and penetrated the lungs. She did not go far after all and I was one happy camper!! A HUGE THANKS TO TAKE'EM!!! I owe you one bud!

Great news!! With the help of TAKE EM, you guys ensured this deer was recovered and will be great table fare!! This was my first year hunting deer in NS and the boys and I were not successful and spent many hours in a ground blind at the ready!! We had a trail cam that showed deer, including a nice buck but we seen nothing!! I am sure it would have been very exciting to bag a deer, but I would have to say I definetly prefer waterfowling!!! Will give it a shot again next year. My neighbor has property around Meteghan and we will be able to use a blind he has there and he says we should have no issues bagging a deer there!! My neighbor did get his deer there this year and we had some ribs the other night and they were excellent. Also experimented making Jerky and that was oustanding as well!! If anyone has any exceptional Jerky recipes or tips, put them under the recipe section!!

It was my pleasure to help out Mike. I'd much rather be out in the woods tracking an archery deer than slaving away at work any night of the week, lol! As you well know, the SECOND hunt begins after the 20 minute wait. I'm glad we found her in a timely manner. She'll be excellent eating. Just make sure I get both tenderloins and we'll call it square, lol! Seriously though, I know what a relief it was when Croc dropped everything one night to come and help me with my huge doe after dark. I don't know what I would've done without him. Someday you can return the favor when I drop something with 10 points and a 24" spread. Enjoy that venison!!!
