Let us hope!!!
Obviously they feel that there is enough support out there in the voting public that they can reiterate what has been their long standing position on the matter.

Harper to target gun registry Harper to target gun registry By Daniel Proussalidis, Parliamentary Bureau cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/CanadaVotes/News/2011/04/03/17862441.htmlHarper to target gun registry Conservative leader and Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper speaks during a campaign rally in London, Ontario April 3, 2011. REUTERS/Chris Wattie THOROLD, Ont. - Stephen Harper will promise Monday to kill the long-gun registry if he's re-elected, QMI Agency has learned. It's the fourth election campaign in a row he's made that promise. "The people of the regions of this country are never going to accept being treated like criminals. We will continue our efforts until this registry is finally abolished," Harper said when a Conservative private member's bill to kill the registry failed to garner enough support last fall in the House of Commons. When a handful of mostly NDP MPs switched their votes to oppose plans to kill the registry, narrowly defeating it last September, the Tories promised to bring it up during the next campaign. Harper will make his pledge to shoot down the long-gun registry in the riding of one of those NDP MPs -- Malcolm Allen from the riding of Welland -- who switched his vote. Allen, along with several other NDP MPs, had originally supported the bill to eliminate the registry, then changed his mind at the last minute. The Tories argue it will take a majority government for them to hit the bull's-eye on the registry and overcome opposition from the Liberals, NDP and Bloc Quebecois. Just before the campaign began, the government made the fifth extension of its an amnesty for long-gun owners who have not complied with the registry. They now have until May 16, 2013, to register their weapons.
