I just picked up my new bow, it's a Howard Hill "Wesley Special" longbow. 70lbs @ 28"
I hope to become a good enough shot to hunt bear & deer with it in 2011, it is 100% instinct shooting & will take some time to learn.
I'll post some pic's as soon as my bow stringer comes in, it's to hard to set the sting over my knee right now.

Sounds pretty cool to me - you definately will have a challenge!
I shot recurve bows for years and we would string them (50+ lb weight iirc) by hooking the bottom end infront of the right ankle, the middle behind your left knee and bending the top over with your left arm. Is that what you are trying?

Yup, that's how I've been doing it, it's not to bad with my 45lb recurve with the rounded ends. The 70lb longbow is doable, but it's very hard, I just don't want to take the chance of breaking it.
