Sorry folks - no pics this time, but this is a good one - trust me (burp!)
Great in slow cooker or in a pot
Brown 3 lb or so of cubed deer meat
Mix together: -4 garlic cloves -2 chopped onions -2 cups of cubed carrot -3 cups of cubed squash or sweet potato -2 cups of cubed potato (optional) *crockett's note - don't skip the squash/sweet potato - this is what thickens the stew because it falls apart as you cook it. First time I skipped it and it was too watery. This time I used a butternut squash - much better. -1 teaspoon each of cumin and paprika -1/2 teaspoon each of ginger, cinnamon, allspice, salt, cayenne pepper -20 oz. of beef boullion -6 oz. of sherry
Mix with meat and cook on high for 4-5 hours in a pot or 6-8 hours in slow cooker.
Cover a cup of golden raisins in hot sherry and leave to soak while the stew cooks. Add the raisins and a large can of chick peas, drained and rinsed, for the last 15 minutes.
*crockett's note: This works best with fawn, but any stinky old buck will do! ;D
