Our adventure begins with our departure from Halifax to Edmonton on the 24 Sept 06. Dress of the day - beaudog t-shirts and Cammy.
Well we checked our guns through security and after saying our goodbyes proceeded to the departure level.
We located the gate and as we dropped our gear to wait, I told Just Ducky that I needed beverage and a paper stat. While at the shop standing in line, a gentleman approached me and said "you duck hunt?" I sure do I said, and you? Yep he said "I know that fella on the back of yer shirt (Canadian Waterfowl Proshop)". Hmmm! I said, thats terrific.
Do you know about the beaudog site? "I may have heard about it" he said.
I said my names Ed,Who are you?- It was about this time the jig was up. He told me his name was Wendell and that he was the same fella that was about to show us some Alberta hunting over the next couple days . Wow! What great service! I had hoped to be met at the Airport I just wasnt expecting it to be Halifax! Yep he was on the same flight and only a couple seats away.
5 hours later we arrived at Edmonton Airport!
We arrived with our host Wendell in Edmonton and were met by Jacob and Evan. I could see that clearly I was going to be the Grampa of this bunch Anyway all people could hear was my prayer that my gun would arrive without problem. IT Did!! Wow!! Once again a good reason not to fly Air Canada-lol Well moving on-We contacted DISCOUNT Car/Truck Rentals. "We're sorry but we have no truck here today for you-maybe tomorrow!" Well what do you mean,it was booked months ago!!
GRRRRR!!! F%^$ What do you have? A mini van! GRRRRRR! So Ill shorten it up a bit but the story is there was no truck until the next day but we had to get back to the location across town to get it -Yes thats right they would not even bring it to us - was a huge inconvience to not only Just ducky and myself but to our hosts Jacob and wendell who were guiding us through the city of Edmonton. Of course where we were staying was clear across town. Time/Gas/and no customer service -In case you dont get what im saying -"DONT RENT FROM DISCOUNT"
Accomadations for our 1rst two nites were in CFB Edmonton- there were 4 beds in a room but the room was ours $13.25 a nite! Before we called it a day, it was off to get us Licensed up at Crappy Tire- Open on Sundays and to another location -a gun store actually to pick up a case of shells. I was amazed actually that major stores including wholesale sports had absolutely nothing for shells.

Let the first thing I say about the trip is -Thankyou- to all of those who made it possible

DAY 2 - In the timber- Jacobs Uncle Greg made a "dig out" and the beavers did the rest and as the water rose created this great little honey hole.
