Well, we made a few homemade mats for the boat blind project and put a couple in place..We still have 2 to get done but we wanted to see how these held up over a few days... We started with a trailer load of bull-rushes from the bog just down the street.. ![](http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k4/chezz1789/Boat%20Stuff/100_1599.jpg) We laid out some 1/2" mesh for a backing ![](http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k4/chezz1789/Boat%20Stuff/100_1603.jpg) Tied the vegetation onto the mesh ![](http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k4/chezz1789/Boat%20Stuff/100_1609.jpg) Attached it to the frame we built ![](http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k4/chezz1789/Boat%20Stuff/100_1612.jpg) ![](http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k4/chezz1789/Boat%20Stuff/100_1606.jpg) Stood the sides up after getting them attached ![](http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k4/chezz1789/Boat%20Stuff/100_1607.jpg) Mrnova testing out the view..which was too high but we expect the stuff to slump and fall over a bit and we can trim it up later ![](http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k4/chezz1789/Boat%20Stuff/100_1611.jpg) A little more work and a few mods and she'll be ready to go..

Well...I'm a very happy clam.... this boat construction took on a whole new look last week with the acquisition of a "New to Me" smokin' deal.. I managed to get my hands on a deal of a lifetime courtesy of a local crown assets tender bid..It will need a prop when the cash comes back around as there is a good ding on this one but it will do for now.. Mrnova, Justducky and I decided to mount it on the boat to see what I got..Well, after hooking up a gas line and giving it 4-5 pulls she fired right up..So we put the boat in the lake and started her up and she ran like a brand new motor after one pull.. Mrnova took it for it's maiden voyage and flew across the lake and back in no time..This thing flys now..So I guess the 9.9HP will be put away for the season and will be used for fishing season to troll around.. A 30HP MERCURY MARINER LONGSHAFT OUTBOARD ![](http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k4/chezz1789/Boat%20Stuff/100_1692.jpg)

when you do your grass you should perhaps leave your graa a little longer on the bottom so it hides the boat up a little!! Nice job looks good!

As you can see from the pictue of the motor...No Blind material... The grass idea didn't work out as planned as it shrank so much that the leaves fell out of most of it...If anyone else tries to do the same..dry all the leaves out for a few warm days and than put it together.. Mike and I are going to modify the set-up a little and use the new camo fabic I picked up...

One thing that we had luck with when we created grass mats was to use a large 2" "chicken wire" we then took a 1 1/2 inch pvc pipe and weaved it down through the holes. Filled the pipe with grass, cattails etc and then pulled out the pipe leaving the grasses weaved into the wire. This stood up very well for us.
